A Different Kind of Independence

FREEDOM TO BE FREE

Have you ever felt as if the “crossroads” were becoming too much to bear. . . Praying about the same matter with no change was becoming exhausting. Hoping for hope beyond control was depilating. Yet at each breaking point, by the Holy Spirit’s power another round of faith mustered up from within a sense to lean all the way into the unknown with “FREEDOM TO BE FREE”.

Like many who have faced such crossroads, I asked God, “How should I prepare myself to move forward?” Pure silence, not one answer, sign or clue from God. Just silence. Have you ever found yourself beckoning unto the Lord only to have utter silence?

There I was saying to myself, “Well what kind of freedom is this?” I’m fully convinced God was like, “Woman please just trust me. I have you.”  The journey was unpredictable and beyond my hands.

All the way in my feelings, asking, “God what is happening? Lord what and why are you allowing all of this?” From what felt like attacks to my personal life, marriage and other areas of life. . .I tried to process what “FREEDOM TO BE FREE” should feel and “look” like. Yet in the process, I found my tears being an antidote for all of the “unknowns”.  My hubs giving me the space to literally, “just be”.  (Sidebar: We were both looking like “God what is this?” . . .Things were happening that were totally beyond us and seemed to be coming from all directions close as well as afar). It was crazy, physically I was enduring all the changes to rebuild medically; emotionally he was braving not being able to “fix” what was happening. We both had hope and surely asked God what was the purpose in all of this? Unsure, how could there be “FREEDOM TO BE FREE” not knowing or “seeing” where all the “unpredictable” turns would impact our life.

Have you ever been there? You really do not know God’s timeline; but you are compelled to just prepare yourself and take it step by step. Still not one word from God. Only the presence of the Holy Spirit calling you to dive in one more time. But this time around there’s nothing you or anyone needs to do. . .like you are literally in a space where God will not allow one person to attempt to “intervene” on His behalf.  The triumph over the circumstance, unpredictable life moment and any other life course literally has you postured where you are moving in a form of silence . . .but there’s freedom and assurance God is leading you while freely following Him. No coercion, no guilt. . .pure freedom with redemption and forgiveness God knows where you are and has been with you all along.

Boundaries become a part of your self-care plan. There is a refreshing liberty in your soul to just wait, obey, and follow the flow of this new chapter/season.  Your priorities shift. You find this sense of freedom to not let the pain or disappointments taint you. Free to let things and situations be. No desire to control, dominate, disrespect or manipulate any person out of fear. Released with clarity that God is, has and will never leave you nor forsake you. But I must admit, stepping back didn’t feel like “FREEDOM TO BE FREE”. Yet, in God’s own creative way, it was exactly how He wanted us to know this in a non-conventional manner.   Stepping back and letting the Lord have HIS perfect work in every area of your life while defying odds beyond the norm. . .Is it easy? NO!  – Is it taxing? YES! – Is it worth it? On HINDSIGHT, absolutely!

What odds are you facing? Has life, your marriage, relationships, connections, career shifts presented you with a situation that society and/or naysayers consider to be “different”? Well my friend this is your time to have the “FREEDOM TO BE FREE”.  Still your soul, calm your spirit, release the cries of your heart, confess the harsh memories held captive in your mind and ask God to create in you a clean heart. Confess every known and unacknowledged agony, seek forgiveness, repent,  and ask the Lord to purify you.

Will it take days, weeks, months or years? Maybe all four. It really depends on how God wants to work the wonder in you. (Sidebar-check out the book entitled “WONDER” by Taura Glaze)

Make space and time for the adjustments. . .open your heart to God’s timeline according to His plans for you. Be confident in your journey that God is with you, always, even when you are totally out of your comfort zone.

One last encouraging word, surround yourself with individuals who have the capacity to “just let things be” as you are navigating life according to God’s purpose for you. As God prepares you, you will find yourself being vigilant and intentional to not forfeit the moments.

It’s a different type of INDEPENDENCE, but the “FREEDOM TO BE FREE”.

YOU ARE WORTH IT ALL!!!
